At Alaïa Bay, there is a wave on each side of the engine: the Left wave and the Right wave.
For Rookie and Trainee courses, this choice doesn't matter! You surf straight towards the edge, not across it. From Cruiser upwards and for your first experience of the Bay, it's advisable to choose your Frontside (facing the wave), which is generally considered easier.
If you're a Regular (left foot forward), we advise you to surf the wave from the right so that you're in the Frontside position. If you're Goofy (right foot forward), we advise you to surf the wave on the Left so that you're in the Frontside position. This is a recommendation for a first session, but it's perfectly possible to surf backside as well. In the sea, you don't choose the side of the waves, you surf lefts and rights.
Note that you can't change sides during a lesson or session.
